NEW YORK STATE -- NYRA President and COO Ellen McClain resigns from her position.

McClain succeeded Charlie Hayward as president of NYRA after he was eliminated from his position last spring.

She made the announcement during a board of directors meeting. She says she'll stay on to help transition to a new president.

The state inspector general's office is investigating claims NYRA knowingly withheld more than $8 million in winnings that was owed to bettors.
