The freezing weather makes things dangerous for crews on the scene of a fire in Albany.

The fire broke out on the 100 block of Dove Street near Myrtle Ave just after 4 p.m. Nearly 3 dozen firefighters responded to the two homes.

There is no word on how the fire started, but no one was hurt.

Fire crews say the frigid temperatures, coupled with the buildings so close to one another, made it very difficult to put out.

Albany Fire Chef Robert Forezzi said, "It is not the easiest time to fight a fire. You have to slow down. There are slip hazards. Our ladders are icy so we can't really send guys on the roof because it will ice up and then you can't get down. It is a challenge during the frigid weather but we are still going to work here."

At one point, more than 400 people were without power, as crews worked on the scene.
