Troopers say man texted friend while trying to flee burglary scene
SUMMIT, N.Y. — State Police say a man took to his cell phone, sending a text to a friend, while he was on the run from Troopers in Schoharie County.

A Trooper was checking out a burglary at a house in the Town of Summit Friday night. As they were calling in a description of a truck driving away from the scene, other Troopers were chasing two men fleeing from a similar vehicle nearby.

After some help from a DEC K-9 officer, police found 36-year-old Wayne Swart and 18-year-old Devyn Clum.

While fleeing, Troopers say Clum texted a friend: “I am outrunning the police, come get me."

Both men are in the Schoharie County Jail facing burglary and other charges.
