SAUGERTIES, N.Y. — Creativity, crafting, and supporting women in need in the community were the goals of a collaborative fashion fundraiser Saturday in Saugerties.

The event was called "Refresh, Restart, Renew." A number of local groups came together to put together a fashion show and trunk sale with designer Eileen Fisher.

But it wasn't just a show of her newest line. The event also showed off clothing that wasn't from new materials, but instead made from old textiles and crafts.

The event was the brainchild of fiberflame studio, Woodstock Design and the Green Eileen initiative of the Eileen Fisher Foundation.

Participants then got the chance to create their own upcycled clothes.

"We're doing craft projects completely with Eileen Fisher recycled textiles, so everything we're making today is about reducing the landfill waste and bringing it into our crafting lives," said Shea Lord-Farmer, FiberFlame co-creator.

Part of the proceeds will go to "Hope's Fund," an Ulster County organization that aims to help needy women improve their lives. Organizers are hoping this becomes an annual event.
