ALBANY, N.Y. -- The case of an Albany teen accused of stabbing and paralyzing a 15-year-old Rensselaer teen in May now heads to trial.

According to the Albany County District Attorney's Office, for the second time in two weeks, Juan Anderson rejected a plea deal in court Monday morning. District Attorney David Soares says Anderson stabbed Adeujuan Adams in the neck in the South End during a bicycle robbery. Adams' spinal cord was nearly severed and the DA said Adams almost died.

The plea deal would have required Anderson to serve 18 years in prison.

Anderson faces 25 years in prison if convicted at trial of felony assault and robbery charges.

Authorities say Anderson stabbed Adams because Anderson wanted to steal Adams' bike.

Adams, who is now unable to use most of his body, underwent intensive therapy at a rehabilitation hospital in Atlanta and a tube was inserted into his neck for him to breathe.
