Two arrested for stealing pricey dog from pet store

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. -- Warren County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people who they say stole a very expensive dog from a pet store. Deputies say it happened at the Happy Tails in Queensbury last Friday. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was worth nearly $2,500.

Monday, police arrested Shawn Hewitt, 21, and Gabrielle VanBrielle, 22, at the John Burke Apartments in Queensbury.

Deputies say Hewitt is charged with criminal possession of stolen property and obstruction of governmental administration for trying to avoid his arrest on a parole warrant. VanBrielle was arrested for criminal possession of stolen property and hindering prosecution, for hiding Hewitt on the parole warrant.
