Mired in one of their worst seasons in recent memory, the Siena men's basketball team is due for some good news. The Saints are rumored to be among the handful of teams being considered as possible additions to that Catholic 7 basketball conference.

The conference is made up of the 7 castoffs from the crumbling Big East. According to an article in the Washington Post on Sunday, the new conference is hoping to expand to 12 teams so they could have two six-team divisions.

Georgetown, Villanova, St. Johns, Seton Hall, Providence, De Paul and Marquette are already in the mix according to Post Reporter John Feinstein. Siena might be in the mix because it's a Catholic School in the Northeast. Maybe even more intriguing, the lure of the 15,000 seat Times Union Center.

We reached out to Siena College Director of Athletics John D'Argenio for a comment. Here's what he had to say,"It's flattering to have the College mentioned among those schools. It speaks to the tradition of the program, the support of the fan base and the attractiveness of the Times Union Center. But nobody has reached out to us."
