PERU, VT -- A Rensselaer County man is dead after a snowmobile crash in Vermont.

Police said Verouzhan Bagramian, 45, lost control of his snow mobile Sunday near the south end of Griffith Lake in Peru, Vermont.

He was then thrown into a section of trees bordering the trail.

Police said he was wearing a helmet, but that it was lost during the crash.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
