ALBANY, N.Y. -- The performing arts center at the Empire State Plaza in Albany, commonly known as "The Egg," could soon be run by new management.

According to a new report released by the Authorities Budget Office, the Empire State Plaza Performing Arts Center Operating Corporation, which has been running the Egg for more than 30 years, should be phased out. In the report, ABO says The Egg's current administrative structure is "no longer the optimal and most cost-efficient governance model."

It's recommending that the Performing Arts Center Corporation be dissolved, and management of the Egg be taken over by the Office of General Services. Maintenance at the plaza is also handled by OGS.
