As the Saratoga Springs community prepares to pay their final respects to Seth Younes this weekend, many are struggling to deal with the loss. No one more than his own family. YNN's Erin Moran spoke with Seth's grandfather and tells us how the family is trying to remember him.

SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- “They went on vacation to have a good time and it kind of turned into a nightmare for them.”

It's the tragic story of a young life lost too soon.

Seth Younes and his family ventured on an eight day Carnival Cruise late last month. But what happened on that cruise is hard to believe. Younes was found dead in his cabin around 3 a.m. on February 26th.The cause of his death is still unknown. And now his family is left to sit and grieve this unthinkable loss.

“We went fishing. We mowed the grass. We did Christmas shopping every year, you know? I mean, it's just, we were family,” said Richard Sheldon, Seth Younes’ grandfather.

Sheldon remembers his grandson as a healthy and strong young man. Both an honors student and a gifted athlete, he says Younes was an all around friendly kid who was liked by all.

“I don't know anyone he ever had a problem with. He was just, you know, I guess it's a cliché, but to say he was a good kid, he was,” said Sheldon.

According to Sheldon, Younes was planning on attending college at SUNY Adirondack in the fall to take business courses.

Sheldon is a former New York State Police Investigator and he says Younes had similar aspirations to take the state police exam and hopefully follow in his grandfather’s footsteps by becoming a New York State Police Officer.

“I like to think I had something to do with it, but I think that was a decision he came up with on his own,” said Sheldon.

The FBI is continuing to investigate Younes’ sudden and untimely death.

At this time, the family has no comment on the investigation or the cruise line. What's important to them now is remembering Younes’ life.

“All the memories are good, they're fresh in our minds. It's going to take a long time to deal with. It's just a horrific thing that nobody's going to forget. Like I said, you learn to deal with things, but you never forget things and we will certainly never forget him.”
