NATIONWIDE -- Doctors said a baby born with HIV appears to have been cured.
Doctors said the Mississippi baby, who is now two and a half years old, has been off medication for about a year with no signs of infection.
The infant was given a stronger and faster infusion treatment within hours of birth. Doctors believe this knocked out HIV in the baby's blood before it could form.
If the child remains healthy, it would mark only the second reported cure of the virus in the world.
