RENSSELAER, N.Y. -- Doane Stuart School in Rensselaer went into lockdown Monday after a man was reported inside the school with a weapon.
Police say Pierre Jeune, 44, is a parent and was admitted inside the school. Staff members later noticed he had a gun on him and called police. However, school officials say no one was ever in any danger.
Police say Jeune got into a fender bender with another parent about a week ago and was at the school looking to get information about that person. He says the other driver owed him money.
Police say has a permit for the gun, but was arrested for bringing it into the school. He has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
School officials say there were some tense moments, but their lockdown procedures went smoothly.
"They were told that it was an emergency classroom drill and they know what they need to do when there's an emergency classroom drill. They go directly to the nearest classroom where there are teachers and they sit away from windows and away from the door and wait for the all clear," said Lisa Brown, Interim Head of school.
No one was hurt in the incident. A police officer remained at the school for the rest of the day as a precaution.
