Woman sentenced for setting house on fire
ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Troy woman who admitted to setting a house on fire last November has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
Earlier this year, Khadijah Hopkins, 26, pled guilty to burglary and aggravated cruelty to animals. She was arrested for entering the home of someone she knew in Colonie, stealing several items, and then setting the house on fire.
Police say a dog was in a crate inside the home when she set the fire. The dog later died.
In addition to time served, she is also sentenced to five years of post release supervision.
