Man pleads guilty to vehicular assault
SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The man accused of driving 140 miles an hour on the Northway drunk just before crashing has pleaded guilty.
Anton Hawkins was arrested after police say he was driving south on the Northway last November and lost control. They say the car flipped, rolled over and came to a stop on its roof in the Northbound lanes.
Police say one of Hawkins' passengers was seriously injured after being thrown from the car.
Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy says the incident was recorded from inside the car on a cell phone. Murphy says the footage shows the speedometer at 140 miles an hour just before the crash.
Hawkins pleaded guilty to vehicular assault. He is expected to receive up to three years in prison when he's sentenced in May.
