DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- It's been just over a week since automatic spending cuts went into effect and the impact could be felt locally very soon.
This after it was revealed that budget cuts could even close the Dutchess County Airport. The federal government said it will make a decision after March 18th.
Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said the county can't afford the closure.
“Closure of the airport, here in Dutchess County, will severely limit air traffic, and of significant importance, will have a severe impact on Dutchess County's economy,” said Marc Molinaro, Dutchess County Executive.
Molinaro also said while the airport's closure would only be temporary, it would still be a blow to the local economy and to those who are already unemployed or under-employed.
