Woman facing charges after assaulting officer during traffic stop
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- A Schenectady woman is facing charges after police say she assaulted an officer following a traffic stop.
Colonie Police say they pulled over a car on Central Avenue and found the driver had a suspended license. They say the passenger, Denita Collier, 19, gave officers a false name. When confronted, police say Collier ran off and when they caught up to her, they say she began fighting back and was tased. Even during that time, police say she grabbed the officer's baton and hit him in the head. Eventually an arrest was made.
Collier has been charged with robbery, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest and false impersonation.
