CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. -- "All morning we've been getting snow shovels out of the back and getting rock salt unburied from behind the top soil that came in last week," said Gary Robinson, owner ACE Hardware.

So if you thought spring was just around the corner, here comes winter to say ‘think again!’

"For the capital district here I think we're looking at about eight to 10 for snow total," explained Steve DiRienzo, National Weather Service Warning Coordination Meteorologist.

With a winter storm warning in effect, many are thinking what a difference a year makes.

"I have twins who went out with friends for ice cream and they were whining about how cold it was yesterday compared to last year when they did the same thing," said DiRienzo.

Albany saw record highs in March last year with temperatures hitting 78. Now, the news of more snow has put a strain on some local businesses.

“It really hurts us sales-wise, it definitely hurts us. That’s why you gotta make a decision whether it’s going to be profitable to be open for the day or not,” said John Murphy, Snowman owner.

But John says if the roads are plowed, the Snowman in Troy will be open for those with a sweet tooth.

"Maybe we'll even have a snowman built in the parking lot, you never know," said Murphy.

"We always look forward to an early spring, it just helps business tremendously and then we get these late storms and it puts us a couple of weeks behind," said Robinson.

So until the mid to end of April, according to the National Weather Service...

"It's gonna stay cold so I wouldn't expect the snow to disappear very fast, it'll probably be on the ground for a few days," said DiRienzo.

"I hope that this doesn't last too long and after this storm. We put the snow shovels away and go right into spring mode I hope," said Robinson.
