ALBANY, N.Y. -- Children helped reveal the results of CT scans and x-rays of mummies from the Albany Institute of History and Art.

The children bit into some tasty treats to reveal the results.

The institute believed they had one male and one female mummy, but inside the cupcakes was blue icing, indicating both mummies were actually males.

A researcher that worked on the project says finding out the sex of the mummy was exciting.

"We weren't sure about the sex. So we knew we'd be finding out something. We were pretty sure we'd figure out the sex, so that's always fun. You just don't know what's going to happen. It's a little bit of a puzzle and you're trying to solve the puzzle. It's always fun," said Bob Brier, Senior Research Fellow at LIU Post.

The Albany Institute of History and Art will be opening a new exhibit called GE Presents: The Mystery of the Albany Mummies in September to display their results. The institute will also have the complete coffin of the newest male mummy on display.
