ALBANY, N.Y. -- A sad update to a story we brought you last year. A 16-year-old who was paralyzed from the neck down after a stabbing in May in Albany has died.
Adeujuan Adams was stabbed in the neck last year. Sources say the exact cause of the death is not clear, but that Adams' spinal cord was nearly severed during the incident. It left him reliant on a ventilator to breathe.
Adams did travel to a special rehab facility in Atlanta to try to regain the ability to breathe on his own.
Police arrested Juan Anderson, 19, shortly after the stabbing. They believe Anderson was trying to steal Adams' bike when he stabbed him and then punched and kicked him while he lay bleeding on Third Avenue.
Right now, Anderson is facing felony assault and robbery charges. There is no word yet on any additional charges.
