ALBANY, N.Y. -- Albany's All Stars Girl Roller Derby League played the Pioneer Valley's Western Mass Destruction as a benefit for both a local charity and the victims of the Joplin, Missouri tornado.

The All Stars choose one local charity at each competition to receive a portion of their proceeds. This week, the team chose Camp Braveheart, a place where women who undergo cancer treatments can go for weekend retreats.

In addition, the All Stars partnered with Borwegen Trucking's "Load the Truck for Joplin" effort. The All Stars' collected canned and nonperishable goods, personal hygiene items and pet supplies for the victims of the devastating tornados in Joplin. They say this isn't the first time they lent a helping hand.

"Well, you know, it definitely is a tragic event and we do anything we can to help charities, local and national. We had actually done some fundraising for Haiti when that tragedy happened as well," Karen Riley said.

Anyone who brought an item to donate received $1 off of their admission.
