POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - A man wrongfully accused of murder loses his lawsuit against the City of Poughkeepsie.
Dewey Bozella spent 26 years in prison for the death of Emma Crapser, but was released after new evidence exonerated him.
The lawsuit accused the police department, the district attorney, a former city detective, and a former chief assistant district attorney of violating Bozella's rights when he was arrested and convicted.
Attorneys for the city say the lawsuit was dismissed because Bozella failed to state a cause of action against the city.
Bozella was the recipient of this year's Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs. Since being released from prison, Bozella is spending time working with other inmates who were released from prison in Newburgh.
He was also a mentor to young fighters at a boxing gym.
