ALBANY, N.Y. -- To help kick off the first day of summer, a new playground at Giffen Memorial Elementary School is now open. The fenced in playground features slides, swings, and everything else needed to make playtime fun. It is open to all city residents.
"I pretty much love everything and I really appreciate that Dr. Ford spent all this time making a new playground," said Daniel Garcia, a third grader.
"My favorite part is the thing that swirls back and forth. That is green and purple and swirls around," said Clare Su-Morrill, a third grader.
Dr. Pepper, Snapple Group and national non-profit KaBOOM! awarded the Albany City School District a $15,000 grant. The Albany County Strategic Alliance for Health also provided a $10,000 grant to help fund the playground.
