BETHEL, N.Y. -- After a three year hiatus, the Day to be Gay Festival makes its return to the Catskills. The revamped event held at the Catskill Distillery was designed to family friendly and open to people of any sexual preference.
Live entertainment, countless barbecue selections, several exhibitors, and a cash bar were on hand. There was even a dog of the day contest for dog lovers in attendance. Organizers were expecting upwards of 300 people on Saturday. They said they hope to see that, and then some, since donations from the festival reach so many different causes.
"We support primarily the arts. We certainly have recently been supporting the food banks quite significantly because they are in desperate need right now. And we have funding available to local schools to run seminars on anti-bullying and supporting gay and straight alliances within the high school settings," said James Lomax, Day to be Gay Foundation President.
The Day to be Gay Festival was put on by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance of the Catskills, an operating group of the Day to be Gay Festival.
