Scattered Showers/Storms Today; Widespread Showers Develop Thursday
Relatively Cool, But Dry for the Holiday Weekend
Heavy thundershowers moved through northern areas early this morning, making for clouds gradually
breaking to hazy sunshine and temps slowly recovering to 80 or higher by this afternoon. Further south in areas that got little rain, hazy sun will raise temperatures to the mid to upper 80s with plenty of humidity that will generate thunderstorms with a potential for locally intense storms with heavy
downpours, dangerous lightining, strong winds and some with hail. Further north there will still be a potential for scattered showers, locally heavy downpours and thunder into the
evening.
It will remain warm and muggy overnight with an isolated shower or
storm possible as temps make it to near or just below 70 by morning. As a cold
front approaches Thursday we should see mostly cloudy skies, showers
spreading into the area by midday, some locally heavy with thunder and
gusty winds. Temps won't quite make it to 80 in most areas on Thursday. Although a shower may linger into early Friday we should
see clouds give way to some breaks of sun later as highs are held mostly below 70.
Right now the holiday weekend is looking a bit
cool with highs from the upper 60s to the low 70s with a mix of sun and clouds,
which will turn to mostly sun by Monday.
