Morris calling on Mayor Jennings to fire Tuffey
ALBANY, N.Y. -- As a result of the findings by the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Common Council President Shawn Morris is calling on Mayor Jerry Jennings to fire Tuffey as police chief.
Morris is calling on Jennings to "immediately terminate" Tuffey in light of the fact he has been carrying a gun without a permit.
Morris says, "Gun violence is a critical problem in Albany and we ask our police department to take swift action against those who illegally carry guns. We cannot have one set of rules for our citizens and another set for City Officials. These rules must apply from Arbor Hill to Pine Hills to City Hall."
Morris is set to run for Jennings current seat as mayor in an election this fall.
