NISKAYUNA, N.Y. -- The Schenectady Jewish community center celebrates its 90th anniversary. Local leaders helped kickoff the anniversary celebration with a ribbon cutting ceremony Sunday morning.
The ceremony also included the unveiling of the SJCC's 90th anniversary logo, designed by Niskayuna High School senior Amy Yao, winner of an art competition that took place throughout Schenectady County.
Executive Director Mark Weintraub says he hopes more members of the community will continue to join the center.
"For the 90th, we decided, our board has decided, our organization has decided not to raise membership fees as a present to our members and to the community. So we hope they come down and be able to check us out,” said Mark Weintraub, SJCC’s Executive Director.
The SJCC serves nearly 1,000 families each year and is the largest provider of childcare in Schenectady County.
