PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Organizers expect thousands to show up for Pittsfield's annual Fourth of July Parade and business owners want those parade goers to check out their stores as the parade strolls up North Street.
This year's parade theme is Movie Classics and will feature over 150 marching bands, local veterans groups and other organizations.
At one point, Pittsfield's July Fourth Celebration was considered one of the largest in the country, attracting people from all over.
Local business owners want to cash-in one what's expected to be large crows Wednesday. They say capitalizing on the extra foot traffic is more about the exposure than shopping.
"It's more about people who haven't been downtown before to actually see what's going on with downtown Pittsfield, especially with the revitalization," said Joe Melle, owner, The Newberry Place, on North Street.
The parade kicks off Wednesday at 10 a.m.
