ARLINGTON, VA -- President Obama paid his respects to the country's fallen heroes at Arlington National Cemetery. In the annual tradition Sunday, the president laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Speaking after the ceremony, the president said ceremonies of this kind will never be enough to fully express gratitude to those who sacrifice so much for our country.

"Whenever America has come under attack you've risen to her defense. Whenever our freedoms have come under assault you've responded with resolve. Time and again, at home and abroad, you and your families have sacrificed to protect that powerful promise that all of us hold so dear: Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness," said President Obama.

Obama also said, as president, he will never give up his commitment to getting veterans what they need when they come home.
