MASSACHUSETTS -- Massachusetts lawmakers are pushing for legislation that would allow residents to purchase lottery tickets and play lottery games online.

Under the new bill, the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission would be authorized to create Internet gambling games, establish the costs for those games, the number and size of prizes, how winners are selected, and the frequency of drawings.

The Commission would also be responsible for finding ways to block online ticket sales and gaming access to anyone under the age of 18 and non Massachusetts residents.

The state's treasurer has already asked lawmakers on Beacon Hill to allow a test site to be created.
