Vigil held for Richard Bailey
Wednesday was a very somber evening on the campus of UAlbany as students gather to remember one of their own. A candlelight vigil was held for UAlbany senior Richard Bailey, 22.
Bailey, from Long Island, was shot in the head in Albany on Monday. He died Tuesday after being taken off life support. He was due to graduate in December.
Students remembered him fondly.
"Even if you didn't know him, he's looking down right now, really appreciating that you’re here with him. We thank you so much for coming. It really means so much to us," one vigil attendee said.

"He preferred to be called ‘Bailey.’ Anybody that knows him, knows that and he was a hell of basketball player and an even better friend," another person said.
Bailey had plans after graduation to follow in his father’s footsteps as a New York City police officer.
