Schenectady police officer suspended
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- A Schenectady police officer who is being investigated for alleged abuse of overtime has been suspended.

Patrolman Dwayne Johnson is suspended for 30 days without pay.

Commissioner Wayne Bennett said they are looking into an investigation by the Daily Gazette, which reported Johnson spent several hours on Tuesdays at an apartment near Kings Road while he was supposed to be working overtime.

Bennett said they are also looking into whether anyone else in the department knew what was going on and if anyone tipped off the officer that the they were looking into the matter.

Last year, the eight-year veteran made more money than any other officer in the department, around $168,000, mostly from overtime.
