COLONIE, N.Y. -- A former employee from Adirondack Tire is facing charges on allegations she embezzled thousands of dollars from the company.

Michelle Payette, 43, of Scotia is charged with multiple counts of grand larceny as well as two counts of falsifying business records.

Colonie police said that while Payette was employed as a bookkeeper for Adirondack Tire, located on Morris Road, she stole more than $108,000 from July 2007 to July 2009. Police said she either issued checks to herself or used the company credit card for personal use, then attempted to conceal the thefts by altering the company books and ledgers.

Payette was arraigned and released on $25,000 bail/bond.
