State cancels auction sale of Schenectady Armory
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) - State officials have decided to cancel next week's auction of the surplus Schenectady Armory, saying there has been interest in the property and it may be disposed of some other way.
Brad Maione, a spokesman for the state Office of General Services, wouldn't comment on details of any potential direct sale or other transfer of the armory. He says canceling the Tuesday auction will give the state 30 to 90 days to consider the other possibilities.
The armory is one of several former Army National Guard facilities the state put on the block this year. The Glens Falls Armory failed to sell at auction last month when nobody bid. Maione says the Rochester Armory sold last month for $1.4 million.
