WASHINGTON, D.C. -- An Albany official is celebrating the holidays alongside the President. District Attorney David Soares is in the nation's Capitol to attend a holiday party at the White House.
The DA's office tells us Soares was invited several weeks ago and is meeting with state and national leaders. We're told President Obama addressed the group Tuesday afternoon, saying those present are leaders, organizers and innovators in the trenches fighting the good fight for change. We're also told fellow New Yorker Reverend Al Sharpton is attending the party.
District Attorney Soares recently appeared in Vibe Magazine, along with President Obama, as two of 40 people who will change the world.
Soares is expected to return to Albany sometime Wednesday.
