NISKAYUNA, N.Y. -- An elderly Niskayuna man has been charged with attempted murder. Police say Frank Parisi, 89, was arrested last week after investigators say he attempted to smother his 87-year-old sister with a bed pillow at their home on Dover Road.

Police say when they initially got the call last Wednesday morning, it had been reported that Parisi had attempted suicide by overdosing. Investigators later determined the attack happened about the same time that morning.

Both Parisi and the victim were taken to Ellis Hospital.

Parisi is scheduled to appear in Niskayuna Town Court once he is released from the hospital.
