SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Schenectady's highest paid police officer, Dwayne Johnson, has been indicted on 15 counts stemming from allegations that he moonlighted as a security guard for Hess Express during hours that he was supposed to be on-duty.

The officer faces four felonies and 11 misdemeanors in connection with his work schedule between October 2008 and February of this year. The top counts include defrauding the government, grand larceny and offering false instrument for filing in the first degree.

Johnson plead not guilty to the charges.

"Allegations are allegations. It's really easy to make accusations. Now has come the time to prove it," said defense attorney Gaspar Castillo.

"It's not a happy day for the City of Schenectady. We don't take any pride to file charges against a police officer," said Gerald Dwyer, counsel to the District Attorney.

If convicted, Johnson faces a maximum four years in prison.
