SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- The Schenectady man accused of killing and torturing dogs pleads guilty. Thomas Hendricks, 28, was accused of drowning one dog, killing another with a pool cue and scalding a third at his home in Schenectady's Stockade neighborhood.

Hendricks was charged with three counts of felony aggravated animal cruelty under Buster's Law. That law makes it a felony offense to kill or torture a household pet.

Schenectady Police learned of the animal abuse in January when they were called to Hendricks' residence for an incident of domestic violence. Hendricks faces up to two years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

The surviving puppy was re-named "Patty" in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Patty is available for adoption through the Schenectady County SPCA and they say she is a friendly, well mannered pup and would make a great friend for anyone.

For adoption information or to find out how you can make a donation for Patty's care, contact the Schenectady County SPCA at (518) 755-9517 or at their website, schenectadyspca.org.
