NEW SCOTLAND, N.Y. -- Two teenagers are being treated at Albany Medical Center after their car was hit by a train early this morning. It happened on Albany County Route 308 in New Scotland around 5 a.m.
The fire chief at the scene said it's amazing the boy and girl in the car survived.
"They tried to beat train," said New Scotland Fire Chief Bill Gruss. "A couple of young kids and they got hit pretty bad with the train. Minor injuries, they got really lucky that they didn't get rolled underneath the train."
Officials also said the crossing signal was working properly at the time.
