ALBANY, N.Y. -- Governor David Paterson has called for a special session, bringing state lawmakers back to the state Capitol in an attempt to hash out the remaining budget bill. But that extraordinary session turned out to be less than "extraordinary." It turned out to be a very quick day with nothing getting accomplished.

Nine senators did not show up and there were no agreements on the table to vote on. Even if there were enough senators to vote, there are a number of issues that have not been agreed on. Among those: The federal assistance to Medicaid money, the revenue package and the SUNY empowerment program.

A number of leaders are frustrated over the lack of movement at the Capitol.

"We pay thousands and thousands of dollars to bring in all these people. It's over in 20 minutes. This is a disgrace. We're here to vote. It's America. There's no such thing as a bad vote. There's such thing as no vote," said Senator Roy McDonald.

An angry Governor David Paterson warned he will keep forcing lawmakers back to Albany until the budget passed. The next session is Thursday.
