ALBANY, N.Y. -- Albany police have arrested four teenagers after an alleged gang assault Saturday night.
Police were called to 184 Washington Avenue around 7:15 p.m. Saturday where officers arrived to find a man thrown through a basement window. Police said it appears the four suspects tried to pick a fight with the victim, Anthony Mitello, 25, before the alleged attack.
"From the witnesses accounts, he was just a victim being out on the street, and these four individuals came up and started arguing with him, and it just escalated quickly. The attack was unprovoked,” said Albany Police Spokesman James Miller.
Police caught up with four teens fitting the descriptions of the alleged attackers a short time later. Tykim Smith, 17, Joseph Lewis, 17, and Junel Lewis, 16, were taken into custody. All three face gang assault charges. A 14-year-old was also arrested, but his name isn't being released due to his age.
Mitello was taken to Albany Medical Center with a nine-inch cut to the back of his head, a broken nose, several bruises, smaller cuts to his face and a possible skull fracture.
