SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Schenectady police have made an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting back in June.

Derrick Smith was taken into custody a few doors down from his Albany Street home. He's charged with second-degree murder in the shooting at the El Dorado Bar on Crane Street in the early morning hours of June 27.

The victim of that shooting was not at the scene when officers arrived, but police were later called to Ellis Hospital after a car drove through the emergency room doors. The man in that car was the man shot on Crane Street and was later pronounced dead at Ellis Hospital.

Smith was arraigned in City Court and is being held in Schenectady County Jail.
