ALBANY, N.Y. -- A quiet Wednesday at Albany's South Mall Towers got busy in a hurry.
"I was in my window when I saw the police in the facility over there,” said Chris Owens, South Mall Towers resident.
They were arresting Tower resident Kermit Williams.
"He came out he was dealing, they arrested him, they got a search warrant and went back to his apartment and found more heroin, cocaine and Oxycontin and money,” said Inspector John Burke, Albany County Sheriff's Department.
With $4,000 just on his person, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office says Williams was remarkable for more than just his stash.
"How many people do you arrest at 62 years of age, dealing heroin and dealing coke, not many,” said Burke.
This isn't the first time police nabbed Williams either. South Mall residents say they'd seen suspicious activity here before.
“It's a good facility, well run and everything but sometimes they can't be here like 24 hours and then sometimes they have some drug, I don't know if it's drug trafficking but a lot of traffic,” said Owens.
South Mall Towers administrators issued this statement:
"We have been cooperating fully and continue to do so. South Mall Towers is a safe and secure facility for our tenants. We employ state-of-the-art technology and ensure security matters are a priority.”
Williams, 62, is a repeat offender. He was charged in 2001 with selling and possessing heroin and a loaded handgun. Now he'll face four new felony charges and sits in Albany County Jail while he waits. Tower residents meanwhile look for change at home.
"They run a good facility here. The facility is great, but they've been cracking down on that,” said Owens.
