TROY, N.Y. -- A Troy man is dead after he was hit by a car on River Street.

Troy police said officers and EMS responded to the area of 876 River Street around 9 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a pedestrian struck by a car. Scott Murray, 45, was taken to Albany Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Sgt. Sam Carello said, "From the investigation, it appears he came out from two parked cars and was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on River Street."

The investigation into the accident is under investigation, but police said they don't believe alcohol is a factor.
