ALBANY, N.Y. -- Tuesday morning, a 5-year-old boy apparently unlocked a door and broke out of TNT Daycare at 50 Raymo Street. He managed to get to the end of the block where he was spotted by a woman dropping her child off at another daycare center.

Albany Public Safety Spokesman James Miller said, "She said, 'Are you with anybody?' He indicated that he was cold. She went to ask him to come over, obviously she was concerned, he got startled and ran off."

The woman then alerted her daycare provider, Clara Jusino, who called the police.

"I feel very comfortable that the police did all that they could and eventually they found him at home," said Jusino. "He made it home safe and I'm very happy about that."

After a search of the surrounding neighborhood, police discovered the little boy safe and sound back at the daycare center and figure he had been outside for only about 10 minutes.

The boy's mother called for comment. She wished to remain anonymous and did not want to appear on camera. She said it's not the first time her son has snuck away from an adult. She also sang the praises of Reneta Young, the woman who owns TNT Daycare. She said Young treats each of the children she's responsible for as her own and would recommend her to anyone. A sentiment that was echoed by Clara Jusino.

"I recommend her for my own kids," Jusino said. "She's a wonderful person. I've been there with the kids, and they're always happy. I think it was an accident. It could happen to me or anybody in Albany."

TNT is a state-licensed daycare facility. According to the State Office of Children and Family Services website, it's been in operation since 2008 and has no record of any violations. Reneta Young did not answer the door for comment. All involved, especially the little boy's mother, are just glad Tuesday morning's adventure ended as safely as it did.
