ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Albany School Board approves a motion to ask all employees to accept a pay and benefits freeze for next year. Thursday night's vote was 6-0, with one board member abstaining.

The school board is looking to close a $10 million budget deficit and faces pressure from Governor Cuomo to cut 120 jobs if his state budget proposal is approved.

Also on the agenda Thursday night, the school board unanimously approved Interim Superintendent Raymond Colucciello's contract renewal. The terms of that contract will remain the same as in his first two years, with an annual salary of $170,000 and no benefits.

Contract negotiations with the district's union are expected to begin in the next few weeks.
