ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Amtrak has suspended train service between Albany and Montreal because of flooding along a stretch of tracks in the eastern Adirondacks.

Amtrak spokesman Cliff Cole says the tracks are owned by CP Rail, which closed them Tuesday morning because of high water where they run along the Adirondack Park's eastern boundary just outside Whitehall.

Cole says Amtrak's Adirondack Service, which runs one train each way daily, has been suspended until the water recedes and CP Rail inspects the tracks.

Amtrak customers are being taken by bus between the Albany-area station and Montreal.

The eastern Adirondacks sustained millions of dollars in flood damage after persistent storms dropped several inches of rain on the region last week and the past couple of days.
