COLONIE, N.Y. -- On the same day a Middle Grove man bought a brand new motorcycle, he crashed and died after driving it off the lot.
Colonie Police say the crash happened on Central Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Thursday. David Cook, 33, from Middle Grove, was pulling onto Central Avenue from the Virginia Avenue when he rode into the path of an oncoming pickup truck. Police say the pickup truck swerved to avoid Cook, but couldn't.
"Motorcyclist was down, person in the pickup truck was not injured. Motorcyclist was rushed to Albany memorial and he succumbed to his injuries," said Colonie Police Sgt. Robert Donnelly.
Police are still investigating, but say they have ruled out alcohol and speed as a cause.
We spoke to the motorcycle shop on the corner of Virginia and Central avenues and he said Cook had just purchased the bike there.
