TROY, N.Y. -- The Troy man arrested in connection with a hit and run that killed a 6-year-old boy on Monday has pleaded not guilty to leaving the scene of a fatal auto accident.
Troy police said Roy Sanders, 21, hit Jahvion Perez with his pickup truck near the intersection of 10th and Middleburgh streets around 8 p.m.
Witnesses said Sanders fled the scene as somebody performed CPR on the boy before an ambulance rushed him to Albany Memorial where he was pronounced dead.
The truck involved in the hit and run was recovered Tuesday morning.
Police said Sanders was booked on two arrest warrants, one for leaving the scene of a fatal auto accident and one for driving with a suspended driver's license. He is being held without bail.
