RENSSELAER COUNTY, N.Y. -- State Police have arrested a man in connection with an animal cruelty case in Rensselaer County.
Troopers found a mother cat and her three kittens trapped in a box that was duct taped together to prevent them from getting out. Troopers also say the mother cat was shot in the back with what appears to be a pellet and is now paralyzed.
Police say Ryan Dorr, 43, of the Village of Nassau, admitted to throwing the cats in the dumpster after media attention about the cats resulted in a tip that led investigators to him.
Dorr has been charged with abandoning a disabled animal.
The investigation into who shot the cat is still ongoing.
The cats are being cared for by a local veterinarian
