ALBANY, N.Y. -- A new Sneaky Pete's won't be built in Albany's warehouse district. The city's board of zoning appeals unanimously rejected the proposal.
Sneaky Pete's owner has been looking for a new home since his club was razed to make way for a new ShopRite on Central Avenue.
The Sneaky Pete proposal was opposed by some warehouse district business owners. They argued the 800-occupancy club would be too big and out of character for the neighborhood. That brought charges of racism from some supporters of the club, which had a largely minority clientele.
The full written decision from the zoning board will be available in five days.
